Camino De Santiago – follow the journey with Karen Rossy

We reach a time in our lives when the things we have dreamed of doing can finally become reality.

Many years ago I heard about this “walk” in Spain and recently I started to actually think about what it would mean to me to do it. And now is the time.

I have been learning about the Camino de Santiago, researching the different routes and finally I made the decision to embark on this incredible journey. The path I will be doing is the historic Frances route which begins in St Jean Pied de Port, France on the eastern side of the Pyrenees. During the first day I will climb the mountains into Spain to continue first to Santiago de Compostela and then onward to the ocean, to what the Romans thought was the end of the earth, Finisterre. The entire journey will be about 39 days of walking an average of 22 km a day with a couple of “rest” days. I will have walked a total of 880 kilometers, give or take.

After 28 days, my daughter Lauren will join me at the monastery in Samos for the last 100 km to Santiago and then onwards to Finisterre where we will celebrate her birthday!

I thought long and hard about aligning myself with a charity and one that I have decided on is Rescue All Dogs. Lauren introduced me to this group as she has become an advocate and fundraiser. They do such incredible work with dogs from all over the world orchestrating transport, medical care, fostering and adoption for beautiful creatures with no voice.

They need our help.
