A new year, a new chapter

It’s no secret that 2020 was a challenging year. As we all did our part to keep everyone around us safe and healthy, our lives were strongly affected as we all had to adapt to the “new reality”. Businesses were impacted by imposed government restrictions, loved ones were separated from one another and the new way of socializing was brought to us in the form of Zoom conferences. None the less, we got through it and we now enter a new year where we can take what we learned from the past 365 days and work together towards a better future. A future where we can all be stronger and maybe, just maybe, make it even better than it was before.

2020 was also the year where we launched Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Québec. In a time of uncertainty on so many fronts, we decided to take that giant leap and bring a new brokerage to the province of Québec. A brokerage which only launched in 2013 and currently offers an international exposure and network of over 50 000 licensed professionals in 1500 offices spread across 17 countries and growing. A brokerage which is directly affiliated to the “oracle of Omaha”, Warren Buffett, and that is based on his founding pillars of trust, honesty and integrity.

We started with nothing when launching in May of 2020, and since then have grown to 18 brokers servicing various markets in and around the city of Montreal. We exceeded all of our projections and we have a clear and precise vision for our future and growth in 2021. But more importantly, we accomplished what we envisioned from the beginning…we built a family. And that family is selectively growing.

Real Estate, at its core, is a people business where relationships matter. Having been in this field for sixteen years, and having lived many facets of it, from being a broker, a manager, a sales leader and an executive, I have seen what is needed to be successful and know what should be avoided. I said it before and I will say it again…we don’t hire new graduating brokers, but we also don’t hire brokers simply because they are top producers as they may overshadow others in the firm. We hire experienced brokers who collaborate well with one another and bring something unique to the family dynamic, allowing everyone within it to grow and do well. That, in my opinion, is the only way a real estate firm should operate.

You will see many great initiatives from our team this year, but none more important than the continued assurance that you, the customer, will be treated with the upmost care, respect and professionalism that the Berkshire Hathaway name is renowned for.
